Description

Hi everyone, my name is Colin. I am an (almost) 2 year old Green Cheeked Conure, and as you can see, I am utterly adorable.

I came to Birdline through no fault of my own – my human mummy was too unwell to keep me. When I first got to my safehouse I was so scared, but I soon started to relax and come out of my shell. I still don’t like them getting too close (unless they have treats of course – Banana chips please!) but I think with a bit more time I could really start to trust people. I’m still young and learning about the world after all!

My safehouse mum is always telling me what a good bird I am – she says I’m so clean and quiet and well behaved compared to her other birds. I will sometimes have a shout when I’m upset about something – usually it’s because I want to come out and play! But I mostly just chirp sweetly. I’m still getting used to the surroundings in my safehouse, and I like to sit on top of my cage (or someone else’s!) or on the playstand watching the activity around me. I haven’t gotten into any mischief so far – apart from that one time I decided to seek adventure and flew upstairs and got lost, oops !  I like to keep myself to myself, unlike my safehouse’s other birds. They think they can push me around because they were here first, but I know how to stand up for myself and it’s ruffled a few feathers – literally. I’m a pretty chilled out bird though and I’d rather fly away than start a fight.

Speaking of flying, I REALLY am not keen on being in my cage. I got a nice new one when I came to my safehouse but I would still rather be out out out as much I can! At least 3 hours a day please or you’ll hear me crying…and even if I’m in my cage, please, please keep me company. I get lonely by myself!

Aside from that I’m a relatively low maintenance birdie. I’m not a fussy eater – I like most food! My safehouse parents have been giving me all sorts of food to try and I’ve eaten pretty much all of it! I do have a preference for ZuPreem pellets if you could please keep giving me those? Oh and chop in the morning, plus banana chips of course, and pine nuts, and red pepper, and pomegranate, apple, orange, berries, noodles, toast – in fact whatever you’re eating, I’ll have some too thanks!

Well that’s pretty much all you need to know about me! I’m just a shy bird looking for a calm, loving home where I can settle down and grow in confidence. Me and my safehouse mum are really fond of each other, and I think we would both love it if I could stay with her, but her other birds are way too bossy for my liking so we’ve agreed it’s best for me to find a less crazy place to call home. I’d love to have a feathered friend one day though if they were laidback like me. I just want an easy life really!

I just know someone out there has room in their home and their heart for me…could it be you?
