Hi my name is Fransie and I’m 20 years old. I had a rough start in life because, I used to live in a cage with another African grey, who bullied me, and unfortunately my owner didn’t realise that I wasn’t very happy. I was so upset that I used to self mutilate and damaged my tail so badly, that the vet had to remove it. Because of this my balance isn’t the best.
When I came to Birdline, my safehouse mum realised what the problem was and gave me my own cage. Since I’ve been on my own, I’ve grown in confidence and am so much happier. I now love watching other African Greys from a safe distance and even mimic their vocalisations. I don’t want t get too close though because I’m scared they might bully me too.
I’m a friendly little guy, but once I choose my favourite person, I tend to stick with them. My safehouse Mum says I’m such a good boy, and I love her so very much. But, she’s already got two greys of her own and because she’s having some health problems, she feels I deserve to go to a home where I will get more attention.
I love being out the cage either sitting with you having head scratches which I will demand or kissing you which I love too, or if you are busy I will quite happily sit on a play stand and play or chill out. I’m a bit fussy with food, and tend to only eat my fruit and veg if its hand fed to me.
Music is a big part of my life. I just love to dance and show off my moves and I adore it when my safehouse mum sings to me, so if you can do this for me few times a day, it really will make me happy.
Mum makes sure that I get 12 hours of beauty sleep a night in the bird room. If you can’t provide a separate bedroom for me, I’m sure that won’t be an issue, but please don’t cover my cage as it makes me very sad and nervous.
If you feel you could give me a home where I can chill and show off my moves and have lots of cuddles and kisses, then I could be the boy for you. I promise you won’t be disappointed, because I’m the sweetest little guy in the world
