Darcy – Ducorps Cockatoo – 2347 (Special Case).

Hi, my name is Darcy and I am an adorable Ducorps cockatoo who loves to dance. I was named after the ballerina and Strictly judge, Darcy Bussel. I do indeed look like a ballerina, as my wing feathers look like a glorious tutu.
I’m a very difficult bird and need close monitoring and supervision. I had suffered severe zinc poisoning when I came to Birdline and had to be hospitalised a number of times to be chelated, for plucking a blood feather, and once for severely mutilating myself. I am severely plucked across my back and front, but I have now grown enough flight feathers to fly a bit, which has helped my confidence. I haven’t mutilated since.

Once I have found my chosen human, I will be a cuddle bunny, so I need someone who will understand me, maybe a person on their own that I can devote to.
I will need ongoing treatment, including medication, bi-annual vet visits and blood checks so you need to live near a qualified avian vet.
You need to have a lot of bird experience, but no other birds. You need to have a calm, orderly home and follow a strict routine. I am not noisy so you could be in a flat, unlike most cockatoos. You would need to be at home all day as I need special looking after.
I could be the love of your love, your gorgeous little princess and I would be eternally devoted to you. You and I would totally get each other when I get my mood swings and we would promise that I am your one and only bird.
