Hi! I’m Kuku and I’m a very sweet and loving 18 year-old female Congo African Grey with special needs.
First off, I should tell you that I strongly prefer men (especially older men!), so I’m looking for a home with a loving and patient male main carer. I am Ok with both men and women when I am out of my cage, I love everyone. You just need a man to get me out of the cage or a lady who has confidence and had big hands so I don’t fall.
I also need to be reasonably near a vet so I can be checked on a regular basis, as I’ve developed a bad habit of over plucking and picking at my back area. This is why I wear a collar. The collar needs to be taken off me so I can have time out of it, it is easy to put on and take off. The collar doesn’t stop me doing whatever I want. I can move around as much as I like. For many years I was left alone for long periods of time because my family worked long hours. I got very lonely, which is why I plucked and plucked and plucked. For that reason I would love to live with someone who was around a lot to keep me company. I’m not a demanding lady, except when there is food around or it is my cuddle time. I just really enjoy spending time with my humans. I’m probably best in a home without young children because they might make me nervous.
I can talk, laugh, whistle and click. I can speak Gujerati, as well as English! How’s that for clever? I LOVE cashews, almonds, pistachios and walnuts. Not too keen on hazelnuts , though! I like to dance to a catchy tune, especially if you dance with me. I also like to travel in the car and look out of the window. I’ve had a lot of practice, to and from the vet’s so I’m getting quite good at it now. As you can see, most of my feathers have grown back now. I’ve been fine with the other birds here at my safehouse, I enjoy watching them. My safehouse mum says I’m a lovely, lovely bird who’s super responsive, sweet and funny. I come with my own cage.
