Description

Hi my name is Angel, and I am an Umbrella Cockatoo with a fascinating story to tell.

Life hasn’t always been easy for me. I spent many years living in a garden centre, watching the world go by from my perch, longing for a proper family home. Then, one day, everything changed. I was rescued by a human Angel and they asked Birdline to take care of me.

I’ve been living with a Safehouse Family, who have got me used to home life, but now I’m ready for a forever home. A home where I can spread my wings and be truly cherished. Despite the uncertainties of my past, I remain polite and funny, eager to shower my new family with affection and laughter.

I long for a companion who will understand me, who will embrace my quirks and celebrate my uniqueness. I thrive in one-on-one interactions. I may not have a vast vocabulary, but my heart speaks volumes as I say “hello,” “hello angel,” “good night,” and “goodbye” in my own sweet way. While I may indulge in the occasional scream, it’s only to express my joy and excitement, and I promise to keep it to a minimum, especially outside of my cage. I am really cuddly and handleable. I adore head scratches and cozying up in my favourite boxes, finding solace in the simple pleasures of life. While showers and nail clippings may not be my cup of tea, I am a good-natured bird with a heart full of love to give.

I have never bitten anyone, though I cannot guarantee that I never will. Like any creature, I have my preferences and boundaries, but with patience and understanding, I know we can build a bond that withstands the test of time. I can’t fly, and I have an old injury to my leg, but I walk and climb everywhere just fine.  I am nervous around other birds, especially when they fly, because I’m not used to that and I would prefer a home without other birds. I’m unfazed by dogs, but untested with cats. Obviously, any furry creatures would need to be kept separated from me, and any interactions must be from a safe distance.

I dream of a quiet home with someone who has plenty of time to devote to me, to take me on walks and let me rest on the trees, even if I’m not too keen on wearing a harness. I yearn for a sense of belonging, a place where I can feel safe and secure, surrounded by warmth and affection. So, won’t you open your heart and home to me? Together, we can embark on a journey of companionship and mutual love, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Reach out to Birdline today and let’s make my dream of a forever home a reality. With your love and kindness, I know we can write the next chapter of my story together.
