Hello, my name is Floyd I am the handsome boy with one foot, but don’t be fooled I get around just fine. My friend Corky only has one eye and whilst he is handsome too, I am a bit bigger than him so I am a little bit more handsome hee hee hee !
We love to be spoken too and will chatter back, but don’t say actual words; our safehouse mum says that we make the cutest noises when happy. But beware; we also have a very loud scream in our arsenals too, which we use when we want attention, or when our routine isn’t followed.
We are bonded and Corky loves to stay by my side all day long, wherever I go he follows me. Because Corky only has one eye, he needs to be approached from his good side, so you don’t startle him. I Floyd, need some adjustments to cater for my disability – wrapping my perches in vet wrap really helps stop me getting sores on my one foot for instance. But we are very good boys and easy to care for as we have each other for company.
We love being out of our cage, but don\’t have us too close to your walls or we will strip the wallpaper off – as our safehouse mum soon learnt – hee hee ! We will step up onto my safehouse dad’s arm, but mum uses a perch and that’s an acceptable mode of transport too! When it’s time to go to bed, our safehouse mum or dad will say “come on then boys it is time for bed” and in I go and Corky follows. We do both prefer men and need a male primary carer, but are ok with women in the house too. We aren’t so keen on children.
We love having a daily shower spray via a bottle to keep our feathers nice and shiny. Our safehouse mum puts Aloe Vera in the bottle too, which keeps our skin lovely and soft. Then we preen each other, to make sure we look our best. We also love to play with our toys, we enjoy wooden toys, but paper is our absolute favourite,
We both really enjoy our food, but please cook our veg as we are not too keen on it raw. Our favourites are corn on the cob or off, apple, pomegranate, banana, melon, seedless grapes, mango, orange, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, beans, carrots, sweet potato, pistachios, walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts. But food must be cut up really small for me, Floyd, because I can’t balance and hold food in my foot at the same time. We eat Harrison’s Pellets and must be kept on this seedless diet.
We do need a home with no other birds, dogs or cats and will scream if we see any.
If you feel you have space in your heart and home for both of us then please apply, we really do need somewhere where we can call our home.
Lots of love, Floyd & Corky
