Hello my name’s Limey. I’m a very handsome, 30-year-old Orange Winged Amazon that’s looking for a new loving home.
I can be a little shy of new people, and if you’re a stranger I prefer to step up onto a covered arm, but when I’m comfortable I will step onto your hand – especially if you have a treat nearby! I’m a fun and friendly little chap who’d be suited to a sociable but calm family. I love to sit on the sofa or on your lap for head scratches whilst you watch TV or read. I also love sitting on your shoulder whilst you prep food in the kitchen. And I love it even more if I can join in at meal time!
I can get a little noisy and alarm call, but there is normally a reason for this. I do have a history of plucking but we manage to keep on top of this with time outside in the garden in my cage (because i don’t like being cooped up inside everyday), willow for me to shred and chew, foraging toys, plenty of showers and interaction time with the family!
As amazon’s are prone to fatty liver disease i have to watch my diet and eat Harrison’s Pellets, along with fresh fruit and veg. This diet will need to be maintained when I move.
I get on with men and women but I do prefer women, and I’m OK with calm or older children. I have lived with dogs in the past and like the company of other birds too, although I have been known to fly and attack if I think they are getting more attention than me, especially other amazons. So, its best if I don’t live with another zon.
