Meet two little feathered gems who found their way to Birdline when their owner sadly passed away. Sadly, they came with nothing, not even names. Zanu, is affectionately named after Zanussi, the makers of chest freezers, because he is plucked across his chest and shoulders, but his mate Beko is in fine feather !
Zanu and Beko are very shy little birds, but with time and patience, they will overcome this shyness, and venture out of their cage. Neither step up, but Beko has learnt its safe to take treats from his safehouse mummy, and Zanu has very occasionally been known to land on her. They like nothing better then finding a high perch so they can survey what going on. They also share a passion for watching television and the soothing melodies of the radio.
These two batchelor boys currently share a large cage, they like to be close to one another, but not too close because they will bicker. They also like to have two of everything (food bowls, toys etc.) so they don’t have to share ! They’re such good boys and normally put themselves back in their cage at dusk.
Like all unique personalities, Zanu and Beko have their quirks. The rustle of falling leaves, the distant cawing of crows, or the sudden burst of fireworks all scare them. Beko absolutely adores his spray showers and likes to clean his feathers most days. Zanu is not so keen, but occasionally he enjoys the feel of spray mist on his feathers.
Zanu and Beko thrive in a calm environment. Other feathered friends are more than welcome, as long as they share in the tranquility and refrain from aggressive behavior. Zanu and Beko appreciate a respectful distance.
