Hey there, fellow feather enthusiasts! I’m Floyd, a male Orange-Winged Amazon parrot with a unique twist – I’ve got just one claw, but don’t let that fool you, I’ve mastered the art of eating and moving around with just the one claw, and I’m a pro at navigating life with my charm and flair.
At the ripe age of 15, I’ve been through a lot of traumas, not long ago I lost my best buddy Corky, who was a half blind Amazon. I now need a forever nest where I can get over that loss and make a new family. I haven’t been around children or other animals, but I’m open to making new friends and expanding my social circle.
Now, let’s talk personality. I’ve got a preference for male humans. I can be a bit shy to start with, but once I decide I like you, watch out! I’ll be over in a jiffy, playing with your hair and beard (if you’ve got one) and showering you with kisses on your face and hands. When I’ve really taken a shine to you, I can get a bit loud, especially if you leave the room. Hey, I just want to make sure you’re not planning any grand escapes without me! I’m a cuddle bug too – sleeping on your shoulders and snuggling up while you catch some Zs.
I enjoy a good shower once a week. Mist me with some water, and I’ll let you know if I approve with a flap of my wings. And when I’ve really taken a shine to you, I can get a bit loud, especially if you leave the room. Hey, I just want to make sure you’re not planning any grand escapes without me!
I’ve got a thing for mirrors – they’re like a gateway to a playfighting extravaganza with my own reflection. Tiny balls with bells? Count me in! I’ll push them around with my beak and have a ball (pun intended).
I love having my cage by a window so I can keep an eye on the world outside. Flying around the room or strutting across the floor is my idea of a good time. And, oh, sitting on top of TVs and trying to watch them upside down? It’s a quirky pastime of mine. Sometimes, I indulge in a game of hide and seek, and my favourite hiding spot is right under my cage – a master of camouflage, you could say.
I’m not a fan of the hoover sound, so I might get a bit vocal until the noise stops. Other than that, I’m a pretty chill bird who enjoys the simple pleasures of life.
My daily routine revolves around the sun – waking up at sunrise and winding down around 9 pm. I’m quite content being alone for about 7 hours, and a good night’s sleep is a must for this parrot.
